Skunked & Global Warming
I was hanging out in my backyard with a friend when I started to hear some rustling in the shrubs behind me. It was dark out and I had left the light off so bugs wouldn't come around. The rustling stopped, I looked behind me and about three feet away, there it was, a skunk. I shouted skunk. My friend, being the nice person he is, jumped up, pushed his chair in front of me and ran. I flipped the chair, and followed. I did manage to grab my beer. No reason to wait thirsty. After a few minutes, I cautiously approached my yard while making a lot of noise. I guess it got scared off. I think my neighbors heard me yell skunk too because they ran inside awfully quick too. So now, I wonder if it'll come back.
But this got me thinking. I've seen more ground hogs and skunks this year. I wonder, with the price of gas, are people driving less and hitting fewer rodents with their cars...deer too I'd assume? As gas prices rise and we drive less, also considering that global warming thing people are talking about, is it saving what would have been otherwise wasted lives? Who knows, I just hope I don't see another skunk.
